Do I need to do anything before a session?

I offer online sessions only, so there are two main things you need to do.  The first is to ensure your computer is fully charged or plugged in. The second is to ensure your phone(s) and alarms are switched off or silenced. This is so your session won’t be interrupted, which is particularly important during trance.  I also suggest you have a blanket and cushion or pillow ready for trance so that you’re nice and comfortable and don’t get cold.  This is a possibility as your body temperature may drop slightly during trance.

NB – It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that their confidentiality is maintained wherever they are during online sessions.  In other words, as with any therapy session, you’ll want to be somewhere private.

What happens in a session?

Our first session will be a free 45 minute long Initial Consultation. You’ll tell me a bit about yourself and what you’d like to change in your life.  Then, I’ll give you a fascinating look at how our brains work and why you’re feeling the way you do.  Most people find this brain explanation extremely helpful in understanding their feelings, thoughts and behaviours. This alone can begin to initiate change in many clients.

In subsequent sessions, we’ll spend a few minutes talking about what’s been good in your week. We’ll see how you’re feeling and then we’ll move on to how you’d like to see things change for the better.  That takes roughly half of our time and the rest of the session is where you get to lie back and relax in hypnosis.

How will I feel while I’m in hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a completely natural state of focused attention. You will be aware and fully in control, a bit like when we’re daydreaming.  Afterwards, you will feel relaxed and very likely, calm and feeling positive.

How many sessions will I need?

Many people notice small changes after only one or two sessions, which is great. However, they gain the most benefit from having at least six sessions.  This is why most people usually have between six and twelve sessions, although sometimes more. I have also found that often, the clients who have the best and fastest results are the ones who listen to my relaxation audio every night before they go to sleep. We discuss the importance of doing this in the Initial Consultation. Even if you don’t hear all of it, it’s really important to do this as it makes a huge difference to your success. It’s also a wonderful way to drift off to sleep!
